PC platform
Take a trip back in time, and listen to some of the work of Robert Prince.
First
This time we will try something different. While processing these music files, something didn’t sounded right it was especially some of the drum sounds were not drum sounds, but – well something other than drum sounds (cymbals).
As for the story
And just as with Wolfenstein 3D, many people have already told this story over and over again, so I’ll once again fast-forward to the next paragraph.
Next paragraph
As the .vgz/.vgm files didn’t sound like I remembered, I searched the internet for other music sources and even for .wav files, but was unsuccessful. At one point I got a glimpse of the Beyond Doom webpage and found the GZDoom source port.
With this program, I was able to record most of the tracks following, except the SB Pro 2, as these are the reference .vgz/.vgm tracks.
The game the music was recorded of The Ultimate DOOM within GZDoom. While editing all these tracks, I found that even the game had these incorrect sounds – so they have to be correct after all.
I exported each track with different audio sources for comparison, as these vary a lot. Below is a small conversion table so each tracks audio source can be identified.
Conversion table

OPL | OPL Synth Emulation |
